At Health Access, we recognize that California’s diverse communities have distinct needs and issues. As a team, we work tirelessly to slow the growth rate of health care costs and expand access to vital health coverage. We also ensure that once a piece of health care legislation is passed and signed into law it is properly implemented to protect health care consumers.
In 2011, Health Access and The California LGBTQ HHS Network joined forces in the fight for quality, affordable, equitable health care for all Californians regardless of their age, color, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Since then, our partnership has helped grow the number of Network staff from one part-time person to five full-time employees. We expanded programming to include mental health and TGI advocacy and ensure proper implementation of SOGI data collection within our health systems. Our staff, both at Health Access and the Network, are engaged in state-level health equity advocacy across various departments such as DMHC, DHCS, and more.
